Tuesday, February 28: Big Twitter Data Workshop
The Department of Computer Science and the Department of Journalism, Public Relations and Media Studies are co-hosting a Twitter data mining workshop on Feb. 28 in the Big Data Lab in Adams 019. The 90-minute workshop will take place at 9:30 am and will be repeated at 12:30pm. All welcome. If you can’t make either workshop we are also offering a drop-in bring your own lunch and FAQ between 11 and 12:30pm.
The workshop – led by Dr. Stu Shulman, the founder and CEO of Texifter – will cover: Building custom machine classifiers for sifting Twitter data; Constructing precise social data fetch queries; Using Boolean search on resulting archives; Filtering by metadata or other project attributes; Crowd-sourcing human coding; Measure inter-rater reliability; Adjudicating coder disagreements; Building high-quality word sense and topic disambiguation engines; Tabulation, exploration, and how to set aside duplicates, cluster near-duplicates.
