The Pride Men’s Basketball Team Launches #PassThePride Campaign Benefiting the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless
(Hempstead, N.Y.) Monday, November 17, 2014 — The Hofstra Pride Men’s Basketball team looks to continue their winning streak against Stony Brook when they host the Seawolves for the first time in seven years on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex at 7 PM.
In conjunction with the game the Pride team launched #PassThePride a multi-faceted campaign culminating with a clothes drive benefiting the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH). This is just one of the ways that Hofstra Athletics and the student body as a whole are active in supporting the community around them.
Donations collected throughout the campaign and on November 21 are scheduled to be presented to Greta Guarton the Executive Director for the LICH at the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex on Monday, November 24, 2014.
The Pride’s Men’s Basketball team players have been actively promoting the campaign, alongside the a group of students from the PR 106 class who have been granted an opportunity to see theory come to life. “Working alongside the basketball players to crystallize #PassThePride campaign has been a valuable experience prior to graduation,” said Christina Philippou, a senior studying Public Relations.
In exchange for donation, attendees will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a 32″ VIZIO TV, an Xbox One, or a Pebble Smart Watch. School campus clubs are encouraged to participate by collecting donations from their club members and bringing them to the game, and will be featured on the #PassThePride social media accounts.
