The 13th Annual Friends of Max Kolb Telethon
April 27, 2014

Watch live on Hofstra Channel 35 and online at!
RTVF Department, Faculty Advisor: Dr. Peter Gershon

The Friends of Max Kolb Telethon began in 2002 as a tribute to Max Kolb, a Hofstra film student who was tragically killed. One of his close friends, Laura Fu ’02, started the telethon in his honor in order to raise money for a scholarship for film students like Max. More than a decade later, the telethon is still going strong!

Each May, senior-level television students are chosen to carry on the tradition of making this complex telethon a reality. This year’s live event will feature performances by talented musicians, interviews with alumni and senior filmmakers, Hofstra comedian Mike Bialek and a dance segment choreographed by dance major Alexis Robbins.

The goal of the show is to raise scholarship money for current Hofstra film students in Max’s name. Viewers support the telethon by calling in during the show at (516) 463-1200 or by visiting In appreciation of our donors’ support, individuals may choose from a list of premium gifts donated to the show by local and national companies, Hofstra alumni, and friends. This year’s premiums include 2 Round Trip JetBlue domestic tickets, the entire Breaking Bad series, NY Yankees tickets and much more!
